Manchester United will continue to loan out youngsters, says Gill

Manchester United chief executive David Gill insists the club will continue their policy of loaning out promising youngsters.

Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley have both established themselves amongst the first-team squad this season following spells at Sunderland and Wigan respectively last term.

Welbeck in particular has seized his opportunity, scoring 12 goals in 40 appearances as the Red Devils fell just short of the Premier League crown on the final day of the season.

Cleverley has seen his chances curtailed by injury somewhat, though the 22-year-old is highly rated at Old Trafford.

"Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley have done very well and come back in after spells with other teams" - David Gill
When asked whether club will continue to loan players out, Gill told the club's official website: "It's always been a feature. We've done that for many years.

"Alex and the coaching staff will work closely to try and place players in the right teams for their development.

"We have seen that with people like Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley who have done very well and come back in after spells with other teams.

"Let's see what happens but it's good for them and good for us."

The likes of Robbie Brady and Joshua King, who have spent this season on loan at Hull City, are hoped to be the next crop of youngsters to make the step up.
