Javier Hernandez says that Manchester United will fight to the bitter end before relinquishing their Premier League title to Manchester City.
Vincent
Kompany's header handed City a vital three points on Monday night,
sending them to the top of the table courtesy of a superior goal
difference, leaving Sir Alex Ferguson's team needing a slip-up to hold
on to the title.
However, Hernandez believes that the title is
still within their grasp and insists the Red Devils will do their part
to take it to the last day of the season.
"We will keep fighting because there are two games left," he told reporters.
"The possibility remains for us to win the title. Some people say the
chance is very low. Some say they are high. But we will keep fighting
until the end."
Hernandez's team-mate Phil Jones also spoke ahead of their clash with
Swansea City on Sunday. The 20-year-old praised Swansea's
possession-orientated style of football but insisted that United must
stick to their principles and deny the Swans time on the ball.
"Swansea have been a surprise package this season," said Jones. "They
have played some terrific football and have some great individuals of
their own.
"We are aware of the threat they pose. Hopefully we can snuff that out, play our game and get the three points."
With United only trailing their city
rivals on goal difference, Jones also warned against United playing with
a 'gung-ho' mentality as they try to overturn the difference between
the sides.
"We have to go for it," he said. We can't go gung-ho straight from the start. We have to approach the game in the right manner.
"The idea is to make a platform to build on. If we keep a clean sheet, which we are capable of, we will score goals."
